In 2016, the Alliance for Aging Research released a survey that revealed many Americans know little about valve disease.
In fact, while half of respondents say they have heard of HVD, only 9 percent say they have extensive knowledge of the disease. The results showed there was a profound need for more awareness about heart valve disease among Americans.
