84, a TAVR, and feeling normal

This 84 year old spent more than 70 years in pharmacy. At this age I was exercising an hour a day at Planet Fitness and not getting satisfactory results. I made an appointment with my primary care physician. In the interim I fainted three times and was unconscious for about 20 minutes each time.

My doctor detected the heart murmur and referred me to a cardiac surgeon. I was quickly diagnosed with aortic stenosis, and immediately admitted through the emergency department. After extensive testing and evaluation a TAVR was performed and I was discharged without restrictions as to activities. I asked for and was enrolled in Cardiac Rehab, which I thoroughly enjoyed for 3 months.

I participated in an American Heart Association three mile Walk for Health, a good test for my new valve, and I further tested it by shoveling snow. All this, without pain or feeling anything but normal.
