University of Arizona Sarver Heart Center Health Fair

Sarver Heart Center will be hosting a mini health fair for the community of Green Valley, Arizona to raise awareness of National Heart Valve Disease Awareness Day. The event will feature a variety of booths and Physician-led lectures centered on valve disease and treatments. The fair will include compression only CPR, explanation of the symptoms of valve disease, heat sound auscultation, measurement of vital signs, heart health cooking examples, therapy awareness vendors, and a photo booth! This event is open to the public.

Mended Hearts Loma Linda Chapter – Cardiac Health Support Group Meetings

Mended Hearts is a national support group for all heart patients and their families. Local Mended Heart chapters are located throughout the country. The Loma Linda chapter offers cost free, heart health education and support from healthcare professionals specializing in cardiac health.

Pan-African Society for Cardiothoracic Surgery (PASCaTS) & Global Heart Forum

In collaboration with German Heart Centre Berlin and Cape Coast Teaching Hospital, PASCaTS and Global Heart Forum will host an event featuring physicians and the rheumatic heart disease team. The event will focus on risk factors such as sore throat and rheumatic fever, and prophylactic penicillin treatment to prevent recurrent throat infections, with the goal of eradicating this fatal disease among school children.  The fair will feature heart sound auscultation and measurement of blood pressure and heart beats. The RHD team will interact  with the public about lessons learned from the V-Scan heart screening of 4,763 school children and students conducted in the Central and Eastern Regions of Ghana, with the support of Edwards Lifesciences, and the perspectives of establishing a training centre for echocardiography and cardiology at the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital.
